Your views on our community priorities
In April 2021 a consultation was held to seek views from the public on what priorities the Orkney Partnership should concentrate on in the year ahead.
The partnership is made up of public service providers and local agencies who work together, and with communities, to improve the quality of people’s lives. They focus their collective resources on a small number of strategic priorities at any one time and these priorities are used to decide what they aim to achieve by working together.
The Orkney Partnership Board recently came together to review the priorities of the Partnership, taking into consideration the Covid-19 pandemic and associated challenges currently facing our community. They took into account the work already undertaken for Kirkwall and Stromness, the ASPIRE Orkney recovery plan and the Community Learning and Development Plan, which is also being renewed this year.
The following strategic priorities were proposed as a result of this exercise:
- Connectivity (digital and transport)
- Community wellbeing (supporting the recovery of people and communities from the pandemic)
- Sustainable recovery (balancing the needs of Orkney’s economy and environment)
A short survey was developed to gather views from those willing to participate and the results will be used to inform the next Community Plan.
