have your say on our prioritiesWe want your views on our community priorities

We are seeking views from the public on what priorities it should concentrate on in the year ahead.  You can still take part even if you completed the 'Your Community, Your Voice' consultation for the West Mainland earlier this year.

The partnership is made up of public service providers and local agencies who work together, and with communities, to improve the quality of people’s lives.  They focus their collective resources on a small number of strategic priorities at any one time and these priorities are used to decide what they aim to achieve by working together.

The Orkney Partnership Board recently came together to review the priorities, taking into consideration the Covid-19 pandemic and associated challenges that are currently facing our community.  They took into account the work already undertaken for Kirkwall and Stromness, the ASPIRE Orkney recovery plan and the Community Learning and Development Plan, which is also being renewed this year.

The following strategic priorities were proposed as a result of this exercise:

  • Connectivity (digital and transport)
  • Community wellbeing (supporting the recovery of people and communities from the pandemic)
  • Sustainable recovery (balancing the needs of Orkney’s economy and environment)

A short survey has been developed to gather the views from those willing to participate and the results will be used to inform the next Community Plan.  The survey consists of seven short questions and should take no longer than 15 minutes to complete.

Everyone is welcome to take part and have their say, by completing the survey online at www.smartsurvey.co.uk/s/OPB2021 by the end of April 2021.

If you need a paper copy of the survey or have any questions please contact community.planning@orkney.gov.uk.
