Natural Wellbeing Project
Spending time outdoors or bringing nature into your everyday life, has been proven to benefit both mental and physical wellbeing.
The Natural Wellbeing project aims to improve wellbeing and mental health by creating nature based innitiatives for the residents of Stronsay by working collaboratively with the Islands Wellbeing Project and Islands Development Trusts.
By identifying what our rural, coastal landscape can offer us, the project will implement programmes to engage the community and build on the five areas of wellbeing: connect with others, be physically active, learn new skills, give to others, give notice to the present moment (midfulness).
A period of research will be carried out in the community and any input is welcome.
The final part of the project is to develop a toolkit that other rural communities can utilise, using nature to improve wellbeing and mental health.
