GRANTS AVAILABLE

There are two main grant streams available for woodland planting and the OWP Woodland Adviser can help you choose the best option for your project.

Firstly, the Woodland Trust provides grants under their Croft Woodland Project.  These may suit those with small, but suitable areas of land.

Secondly Scottish Forestry (previously known as the Forestry Commission), provide the Forestry Grant Scheme (FGS), part of the Scottish Rural Development Programme. This includes a special Northern and Western Isles grant which is tailored to the extra costs that planting in exposed or remote conditions can involve.

Both these grants are aimed at creating mainly native woodland, although the choice of species may vary depending on the site and its context.  The Woodland Trust can enable grant applications for FGS grants, as well as their own.

Scottish Forestry also have a range of grants for woodland management.
