HOY OUTING
The plan is to do the "Old Man" track depending on the weather. We are hoping the two species of bearberry (common bearberry and Alpine bearberry or Arctostaphylos uva-ursi and Arctostaphylos alpina) will be in bloom - normally a bit earlier but as spring is late we can but hope. According to www.plantlife.org the alpine bearberry is the county flower of Orkney!
As it is a longish walk we have gone for the early ferry so you will need rations for breakfast (unless you breakfast very early) as well as lunch, the usual kit of waterproofs, stout footwear, camera, lens, binoculars, Rose or other wild flower key etc.
We'll be meeting at the Houton ferry terminal at 07.40 at the latest. To book phone Sal 851336
