u3a Walking Group One - January 2024

by Tim - 09:05 on 13 January 2024

Thirteen of us met at the Slip by Newark Beach in Deerness this morning .The dry morning forecast did not materialize with a light drizzle on and off during the whole 3.5 miles of the walk.We set off along the track above the beach looking for the Giant Flapper Skate that Kate had seen on Sunday that had washed up dead . It took 4 people to turn it over which gives some indication of it's size . Then it was off along the shore track putting up lots of birds including many Wigeon and Teal .Then up the short hill and along the back roads to the beach again and the cars .It was good to get in them and dry off and warm up . A good bit of exercise to fend off the Christmas excesses and before the freeze that's coming next week .

The next meeting will be Thursday 22nd February.

Keep moving , Tim.
