U3A Walking Group - August 2021

by Tim Wright - 15:52 on 13 August 2021

We left Kirkwall in heavy rain but it was dry by the time we got to Marwick .Five was the grand total to walk to The Palace .By the time we had got to the Kitchener Memorial we were shedding clothes and the sun came out as we rested for a few minutes at the alcove looking along the cliffs .Fulmars and a few Gannets in the distance were all that was left on the bird cliffs .It was then all down hill to the road by the Cemetery, taken as there were cows and calves on the Links in front of the Birsay Bay Tea Rooms . Bi then asked us up to her house on the hill for coffee ,cakes and bacon butties and lovely and welcome they were too .Thank you very much Bi .

The next walk will be Thursday 2nd September .A reminder and details will be sent out nearer the time .

Keep moving ,

Tim
