Enjoying Orkney Birds

15th May 2013. Fourteen U3A members and two guests assembled for the monthly birdie walk at Bendigo on South Ronaldsay before setting off to stroll round the Head at Grimness. Apart from the usual sightings some of the highlights of the morning were purple sandpiper, turnstone, razorbill, bonxie, tystie, swallows and martins along with a substantial colony of herring gulls.
We also enjoyed seeing the spring flowers in bloom and even had a little sunshine with the rain holding off until we were safely indoors.
Our next meeting is a trip to Westray later on this month organised by Beryl Mathews which has only one space left so anyone interested please contact Beryl or Ken.
