HARVEST FESTIVAL 2020

Normally, the kirk would be planning its annual Harvest Festival where we decorate the building and thank God for another safe harvest. This year we won’t be able to do this but the harvest has still happened and we have lots for which we can be thankful; there was a good crop of grass for silage, some farmers have more barley than they can store, and Viv has had her best tomato crop yet. Generally, we have remained safe and healthy, we have been well cared for and the community spirit has been strong.

We have so much for which we should be thankful, despite the restrictions, and it is always encouraging to think about good things. Therefore, this year the kirk has decided to have a different kind of festival and ask folk to write a short piece about the things for which they are thankful then e-mail it to viverdman@gmail.com or drop it off at Clifton. The pieces will be collected and published (anonymously if you wish) in October’s Limpet and also on the kirk website.

14 July 2020
You may have heard in the news that Churches have permission to hold "communal prayer, congregational services and contemplation with physical distancing and limited numbers" from 15th July. However, the Kirk Session members have taken the hard decision to not open our church building for worship until Phase 4. We have decided that because we believe that restrictions currently in place (no singing allowed, social distacing rules requiring everyone to be 2 m apart, no cuppa or Sunday Club etc.) would not be conducive to furthering fellowship among us and the experience, as it stands just now, would be very different and possibly quite unsatisfactory. Also, bear in mind that many of our congregation are elderly and/or vulnerable and we want to protect them as best we can. We hope you can still join us in worship online every Sunday and are looking forward to seeing you all when it's safe to do so. Every blessing to you and yours!
