Darts players raise over £1200 for chairty

.

A good turnout for both the ladies’ and gents’ charity doubles in aid of the Belarus Children’s Fund, with a total of £1,273 raised.
Eleven ladies’ pairs and 18 gents’ pairs — well up on last year.
The ladies’ event was won by Jean Scott and Sarah Petrie.
The gents’ event included the Mintlaw visiting team from Aberdeenshire.
In fact, two of the Mintlaw boys were the holders. But they couldn’t repeat that, going out in the second round to the eventual winners, Paul Foubister and John Munson, from the Merkister in Harray, who played great darts all night.
Waiting for them in the final was Neil Croy and Allan Brown, who had also been playing great darts. And a great final it was, with the West boys just shading it 4-3.
A big thank-you to all the players and everyone who supplied the prizes and bought tickets, and to the winners and runners-ups, who all returned their prize money.
With the season drawing to a close, the Tattie Bogle Shield is next, on Friday night, in the Legion. It is mixed doubles, with names out of the “hat”, and names are required by 7.30 p.m. It is open to any player, and there is the now-famous raffle.
Then, it is on to the “do”, on Saturday, May 18, in the Masonic Club, which consists of a mixed doubles dart competition, followed by the cup presentations and karaoke.
All trophy-winners should try to attend. Remember, it is your “do”.
Tickets, at £3, are available from both ladies’ and gents’ secretaries.
