Sanday has moved clear at the top of the Williamsons ‘A’ League.
With the Golf Club v Legion game postponed, the isles boys took full advantage, by thumping Meadowbank 11-1.
The Legion are still in second spot, but what about Quoyburray ‘B’ up in third place, with another great result, holding the Untouchables to a six-all draw, which means last year’s runners-up are already eight points off the top spot.
The Commodores got back to winning ways with an 8-4 defeat of Quoyburray, who have yet to pick up a point.
Also back on the winning trail was Untouchables ‘A’, with a 9-3 defeat of RBLM, who are finding the going tough in the top league.
Shapinsay still lead the Williamsons ‘B’ League, after beating the Legion Arrows 9-3, and the Sands are also up there, following an 8-4 win over the Sands ‘2’.
But, once again, there was no luck for the Nomads, who lost 7-5 to the Tankerness boys, who are doing great, with only one defeat so far.
The Murray Arms also got back on course after last week’s disaster by beating the Shore ‘2’ 8-4.
The other games in the ‘B’ League, Deerness v Likely Lads was not played, and the Shore drew with the Bilco Boys.
With the top three teams not playing, 180s were in short supply, with only seven being scored, by Ian Wilkie, Graham Reid, Alan Gray, Davy Henderson, Robbie Stanger, and two from Keith Bain.
High checkouts: 100 from Fraser Laird and Roy Foubister; and 118 from George Low.
Cup games again on Friday, night, with the Cricket Singles and Doubles both being played in the Legion Club, with names by 7.30 p.m. It is open to both ‘A’ and ‘B’ players.
Then, next Friday, it is back to ranking points events, with the Pit Stop Open Singles in the Golf Club. Any player can enter, but only registered players can receive points.
