Back to league duty

After the busy cup week, it was back to league duty.
There were no real changes, with the Legion chalking up another big win out in Quoyburray, winning 11-1 – a defeat that puts Quoyburray only five points ahead of Quoyburray ‘B’ in bottom spot.
The ‘B’ boys are putting up a great fight to avoid the dreaded wooden spoon, by holding high-flying Commodores to a six-all draw, a result that puts the Commodores in fifth spot, and that’s as high as they can go.

There’s a fair old fight going on for second and third spot.
The Wanderers are still in third spot, but only just, after their 9-3 defeat of Untouchables ‘A’, and they are also out of it.
Still in second sport are Untouchables, after a big 9-3 win over Sanday, but they are only three points ahead of the Wanderers and four ahead of the Golf Club, who beat Meadowbank 9-3.
There’s only two games left, so it could go down to the last game.

In the Williamson’s ‘B’ League, the Murray Arms are now runners-up to RBLM, after their 10-2 defeat of Tankerness, so well done to them.
RBLM are still on course to finish undefeated as they beat Deerness 10-2.
The Shore ‘2’ are pretty safe in third spot but were held to a 6-6 draw by the Likely Lads.
The Sands had a narrow 7-5 win over the Bilco Boys, who have done well over the season.
There was no score from the Shore once again. And, to avoid the wooden spoon, the Shore must win their last three games and hope that other results go in their favour.

There were 180s from Neil Croy, Thorfinn Eunson, Aaron Edwardson, Billy Bruce, Michael Montgomery, Derek Ward Snr, Brian Stevenson, Michael Moodie, Ian Linklater, Derek Firth, Kevin Gray, David Kirkpatrick, Des Gillespie, Robbie Stanger and John Thomson.
Kevin Gray still leads the 180 table and there’s only two more weeks for counting.

High checkouts: 100 from Brian Moar and Gary Drever; 103 Sinclair Craigie; 113 Mike Bain and Robbie Norquoy; 123 Ian Pottinger; 128 Sean Stanger; and 138 from Brian Stevenson.

On Friday, it’s back to a cup game, or rather a shield, with the popular Steven Flett Memorial Shield.
It’s for mixed doubles and you play with the person you enter with and must be entered as a double – no single entries.
It’s in the Legion Club. Names by 7.30 p.m.
