Pit Stop Open darts

Nine teams entered for the Henderson Cup, the last team cup of the season.
It is the Old Royal Cup and one every team wanted to win – at least at one time, but those days are over.

Seven ‘A’ teams and two ‘B’ teams contested the cup. Both ‘B’ teams failed to make it past the first games and, at the semi-final stage, the Wanderers beat the Legion 7-5, but the Legion had only three players. In the other semi, the Untouchables also won 7-5, against the Golf Club, so it was a repeat of last year’s final  — only this time the Untouchables came out on top by seven games to two.

With all the team games finished, players can now concentrate on getting some ranking points and tomorrow night, Friday, is the time to do it, with the brand new Pit Stop Singles being played for in the Golf Club. It is an open event, so any player in Orkney can enter, but only registered players in the K-DDL will receive ranking points.

It is being run by the K-DDL and names are required by 7.30pm. Then, on Friday, February 11, the ‘B’ Boys get their chance with the ‘B’ doubles getting under way at 7.30 pm in the Masonic Club.
Any two registered ‘B’ players can be partners and, remember the ‘B’ players asked for this cup, so let’s have a good turnout, not like last year, when only 14 pairs entered.

180's from Brian Moar, Willie Bremner, Robert Gatt, and two from Derek Firth, Michael Moodie had a 102 checkout and Bruce Moar a 107.
Not many “do” tickets out as yet. It is your “do”, so it is up to the players to make a success of it. Any player who has a trophy to collect should have a ticket and, remember, Shetland will be down this year. The “do” is on Saturday, April 23, in the Masonic Club. Not much response to the bottle stall appeal for the Kirkwall Open on March 12.
