21 September 2024Ritch takes Jimmy Miller Memorial title

Friday night saw the first of this season's singles competitions take place in the Legion, with the Jimmy Miller Memorial Open attracting an excellent entry of 57 participants. With a number of non-regular players and women amongst the entries, a few slow games made for a long night, but there were some superb darts on show from the big guns.

Stevie Garner looked unplayable at times but fell foul of Ian Linklater at the semi-final stage, with Erland Ritch disposing of Ian Findlay in the other. The final was a close affair with Ian taking a two nil lead before Erland found his finishing touch and took the title with the next four legs in succession. Jimmy himself would have enjoyed the night's entertainment and would no doubt be thrilled to see yet another different name added to the cup, continuing the theme since it's inception.

Next up is the Cricket singles and doubles tomorrow night this Friday, before seperate 'A' and 'B' cups take place on Monday and Tuesday respectively.
