07 October 2019Three further cup nights take place

Tigers won the 301 B Cup.

Legion won the 301 A League Cup.

Kevin Sarling of the KDDL committee is pictured presenting the Commodores with the Royal Cup.

Last week saw the three remaining team cups played for, beginning with the 301 challenge cup for 'A' league sides.

A very good entry of 8 teams was soon whittled down to just two, with the Legion coming from 2-0 down to narrowly pip The Ola in the decider.  The 'B' sides contested the 301 Double Start Cup on Tuesday, and the Tigers claimed yet more silverware with a convincing 4-1 win over the Vikings in the Final.

The Royal Cup for 'A' and 'B' sides was played on Friday night, with the Commodores triumphing 4-1 over Sanday in the final.

The leagues have only just started this week, but the early cups have already thrown up plenty of 180s and high finishes, most notably two 170 maximum checkouts.  Things are looking promising for another record breaking season.

This Friday sees the first of this year's seven Ranking points competitions take place in the Legion in the form of the Louttit Cup.  Then the following Friday the same venue hosts the Tom Notman Memorial Cup, which is open to any player that has ever played in the KDDL.

180s were scored by:  Alan Gray, Stevie Linklater, Robbie Stanger and Leigh Shearer.  Ian Munro also scored 171.

Ton-plus checkouts came from:
Alan Pirie 105, Brian Stevenson 107, Freddie Tait 111, Gordy Rendall 112, Stevie Garner 120, Leigh Shearer 154, Paul Foubister 170 and Kevin Gray 111 & 113.
