Stromness Museum (Orkney Natural History Society Museum) is pleased to announce funding to establish a Collections Development Team, comprising three part-time posts: Curator, Museum Officer and Assistant Exhibition Officer. This three-year project is part-funded by the Orkney LEADER programme 2014-2020 and the John Ellerman Foundation.
All candidates must demonstrate experience of working with collections, multi-tasking and close attention to detail. They will also need strong communication and problem-solving skills, and a flexible approach to working.
- A Curator who demonstrates proven knowledge and has an established reputation in an area relating to the Museum’s collection. The successful applicant must have demonstrable experience of managing staff, resources and projects
- A Museum Officer who can ensure the Collections Development Team runs smoothly and successfully by managing all administrative duties and assisting colleagues with a variety of duties
- An Assistant Exhibition Officer who will support the successful delivery of the Museum’s programme of exhibitions and displays, both temporary and permanent
Closing date for applications is 5pm on 7 July 2017, and interviews will be held in Stromness on 24 July 2017. No travel expenses will be payable. Successful candidates will be notified shortly thereafter and should be prepared to start working in August.
