Welcome to the website of the Kirkwall & District Darts League.
We are based in the Orkney Islands, off the north coast of Scotland. KDDL was formed in 1967 and last season we celebrated our 40th anniversary with a number of events.
Most of the teams in our leagues play in Kirkwall but those based in the surrounding area are also welcome, for example we have teams from Shapinsay, Tankerness and Holm taking part.
Our darts season runs from September until April, with A league matches generally taking place on Monday nights and B league games played on Tuesday nights.
As well as these fixtures we also play for a number of cups, in various formats throughout the season which includes team games as well as singles and doubles matches.
During the league we have six man teams and play two doubles and four singles matches in each half of each match. At half time the card is re-written and captains can bring in their reserves if they so wish in the second half. This means that each league match is the best of 12 games, consisting of 4 doubles and eight singles games.

We also play two “big” matches in the year, when in December we play the annual East v West game against the West Mainland Darts League, and then in April we take on our Shetland rivals in the annual inter-county match between Kirkwall District Darts League and the Shetland Darts Association.
At various times we have also held charity fundraising darts events for many different good causes.
The league is run by a committee who meet on a regular basis throughout the season.
