Founded in 1968, Orkney Heritage Society is a charitable body whose objectives are:
In furtherance of these objectives the Society organises public lectures, conferences and trips. The Society produces various publications and organises a series of awards. It also provides support to projects consistent with its purposes, participates in various amenity groups and is consulted on planning matters.
For 2010 the main focus for the Society will be The Year o Orkney Dialect, in which we aim to raise awareness of the rich heritage reflected in the dialect and encourage its use in everyday life. Membership is open to anyone with an interest in Orkney and its history and brings benefits such as the annual newsletter and reduced costs for publications. ![]()
