As President I approach this new Rotary year with some apprehension but acknowledge the faith members have put in me and will endeavour to continue the excellent work of this Club and the Rotary movement worldwide. In this I will be relying on the advice and support of the Office Bearers, Committee Conveners and all members.
The Rotary International President’s theme for 2010-2011 is Building Communities, Bridging Continents, which we will bear in mind as we pursue the aims of continuing to support our local community in a variety of ways whilst at the same time contributing to international causes. I believe that the most important thing is for us as members of this Club to remember why we are in this organisation – to be of service, and to remember those who are not as fortunate as ourselves. I do hope, though, that in my year, the Club will have something positive to offer to each and every one of the members, and the wider Orkney community as a whole.
