VacancyKirkwall East Church has been vacant since our minister the Rev. Allan McCafferty moved on to pastures new in March 2011 after serving our congregation for 17 years. Since then we have linked with our near neighbours, the Shapinsay congregation, who are an island parish 20 minutes away by boat. The ferry operates to a regular timetable and many of the Shapinsay residents commute daily to work in Kirkwall. We are now seeking a new minister to take charge of both congregations and are looking forward to developing our ministry within our communities. Orkney has a strong sense of community with many thriving organisations providing for sporting, musical and cultural interests. We are aware of the challenges we face, but clear about where we are going, we strive to be a church reflecting Jesus, moving forward in faith, able to express God’s love in action within our communities and the wider world. If you would like to know more about our congregations please download the Parish Profile.
