Girlguiding Orkney started the centenary year in September 2009, with a Disco in Dounby for all members, from the Rainbows to the Trefoil Guild. Buses were hired in to take us all out for the event. The Centenery Champions cut the cake, and we all had a fun filled afternoon
In December, we held a Church Service in Stromness, and the girls all made Christangles. Some of the Leaders went on to have a meal afterwards.
In March, the Rainbows had a Princess Party in Kirkwall. 63 little princesses attended, and made crowns, sung, danced and played games, and all received a Princess Bun to take home.
In May, the Brownies headed to Shapinsay for the Brownie Takeover. 133 Brownies plus leaders and helpers had a great day at the School
Also in May, we had a Parade and Church Service at The Cathedral. The sun even shone for us! Photos can be seen on Ken Amers Webpage (see Guestbook for link)
In June, the Stenness Brownies went on an adventure to Perth
July saw the Guides Camping in Orphir, thunder and lighting didnt put them off!, and the Brownies were on Pack Holiday in Birsay. Both events were a huge success.
July also saw our Girlguiding Floral Display in the Tankerness House Gardens. This display lasted for some time!
In August, a group of Guides and Leaders headed to the Tartan Gig in Glasgow. Another great event. Ears were still ringing for days afterwards from the screaming!
October saw the Finale of the Centenary Year. All members made or renewed their promise at 20:10 20/10 2010 at Picky. A fantastic evening with bouncy castles, craft, rollerblading, dance, and magic!
Now the Centenary Year is officially finished!
We have all had a fantastic time at all the events, and thanks must go to all the people who have organised things over the year - far too many to name!
