03 May 2025Spring Working Hunter Show and Clinic

https://www.orkneycommunities.co.uk/ridingclub/documents/2025-spring-wh-schedule.pdf

Our Spring Working Hunter Show will be held at Gaitnip Farm, St Ola, on Saturday 17th May - the Schedule / Entry can be found on the link above - which also contains a Booking Form for lessons with Karen Mowat on Sunday 18th May.

We are so very grateful to Casey Construction and Northvet for sponsoring the rosettes, and to the Casey Family for having us at their excellent facilities at Gaitnip, allowing us to use their fabulous working hunter fences, and to Paddy for providing extra parking spaces.  Grateful also to the Orkney Dairy for agreeing to come along on the Saturday to provide the Catering, and of course to Karen Mowat for making the trip North to judge, and to coach the next day.  We are so lucky that all these busy and well respected coaches and judges will take time out of their schedules to come to Orkney, so please support the events as much as you can.

Show Entries must be in by Wednesday 14th May, while names for the Sunday Clinic with Karen should be in no later than Tuesday 13th as rides will be done that evening - but bear in mind that the clinic may be full before the closing date, so don't leave it till the last minute.

You'll see on the Schedule we are hosting various Qualifiers for Scone and BSPS.  Please read the notes carefully to check you are eligible.  Orkney Riding Club accepts no responsibility for wrong entries.
The Qualifiers are incorporated into the height classes, which are open to everyone, so make sure you include all the required information on your entry including Rider Name (and age if under 18) / Horse Name and Height  as classes with large entries will be split either horse/pony or senior/junior rider - so these details are important.
Also make sure to TICK each qualifier you want to do and include Q after the class number.  Only those eligible can enter as a Q qualifier - the information is within the schedule.

Can those with Working Hunter Plates from last year please get them returned asap.

25 March 2025DRESSAGE LEAGUE and HELP NEEDED

The next League is on Sunday 1st June - an Entry Form can be found on the link above.

The 2025 Dressage League is now underway.  It's an Open event, so everyone is welcome, and you don't need to ride at all the dates.
You can ride as many tests as you want.
Tests can be called.
Points will be awarded separately for Riding Club and Pony Club, although RC/PC may run in one class, depending on numbers.
There is also a Non League LONG Arena Test which can be ridden for £5. It will be judged and scored but no rosettes - this is for anyone who would like to give the long arena tests a go.

HELP REQUIRED.
For the Dressage to be able to run we are looking for some folk who would be willing to help the judges - it could be Writing or Scoring / Sorting Rosettes - training will be given to anyone who wants it. They say it would be ideal to have a bank of folk they could call on when required, and you wouldn't necessarily have to do every dressage date. It would be super to see the Dressage League continue to thrive with Tracey and Joy - if you are willing to go on their Helper List, or want to know more about what's involved send them a message or email  [email protected] and we'll pass it on.

The 2025 League tests are Intro 3,  Prelim 1,  Prelim 3  and Novice 1,  and they can be found on the links below and there's an extra Non-League Long Arena Test which can be ridden at the reduced fee of £5 for anyone wanting to try the long boards.
