Do not fear:

Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.  I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

- Isaiah 41:10

Prayer for those who got up on the wrong side of the bed:

May you be honest with yourself and not try to explain away this cloudy mood, may you avoid the encounters that can wait until tomorrow, may you do at least one thing that you want to do, even if it doesn’t lift this heaviness, may you remind yourself that this is temporary, that there are other sides to the bed, other chances, and other mornings, and may these bright, lasting truths on the horizon get you through the transitory grey of today.  Amen.

What God looks like:

A little girl was drawing a picture.  Her mother asked: "What are you drawing?"

She replied: "A picture of God!"  "But nobody knows what God looks like," her mother objected.

"They will when I’ve finished”, she explained.

Credo

I will be truthful.

I will suffer no injustice.

I will be free from fear.

I will not use force.

I will be of good will to all.

— Mahatma Gandhi in The Little Book of Prayers

Nature:

Most of the time we forget to notice this place where we live, but every once and so often maybe we notice and are filled.  "He restoreth my soul" is the way the psalmist says it.  For a little while the scales fall from our eyes and we actually see the beauty and the holiness and mystery of the world around us, and then from deeper down even than our hunger, restoring comes, nourishment comes.  You can't make it happen.  You can't make it last.  But it is a glimpse, a whisper.  Maybe it is all we can handle.

— Frederick Buechner, The Clown in the Belfry.

Divine Punishment:

The delusion of divine punishments still prevails inside and outside religion over the clear evidence of human consequences, random accidents, and natural disasters.  This does not simply distort theology; it defames the very character of God.

Prayer when can’t find the right words:

May you allow yourself time to process your thoughts, to tend your feelings, to sit with yourself and with others, knowing that many things, if not most, are beyond language, and can only be explored in the silence between words, where deep listening replaces our own desire to be right or articulate, and draws us instead into humble co-creation that we could never achieve by ourselves.  Amen.

Micah Bucey

Faith in the Lord: Never give up:

We never give up.  Our bodies are gradually dying, but we ourselves are being made stronger each day.  These little troubles are getting us ready for an eternal glory that will make all our troubles seem like nothing.  Things that are seen don’t last forever, but things that are not seen are eternal.  That’s why we keep our minds on the things that cannot be seen. - 2 Corinthians 4:16-18, CEV

Worry:

Worry does not empty tomorrow of its sorrows; it empties today of its strength.
