County weekend about to take place

The 2014-2015 domestic season came to an end with the trophy presentation do held in the Masonic club. There was not a big turnout, but everyone had a jolly good night.

The domestic season might be over, but the darts are far from over as Shetland comes a calling this weekend and gets underway on Thursday with the Kirkwall Ladies taking on the Shetland Ladies, out to reverse the last year’s result as they lost out on the last game.

Then on Friday night, its the gents’ turn with the game being held in the Masonic from 7pm onwards.

The Orkney boys are out to make it five in a row but I’m sure Shetland will be going all out to stop that happening. Spectators are most welcome.

On the Saturday, it’s the anniversary shield singles, for both gents and ladies. It’s in the Legion with names by 1.30pm and its open for any players.

The following Friday, it’s the second charity event — a ladies and gents doubles competition in the Masonic at 7.30pm. The Mintlaw darts team will be in attendance.

Then, the next weekend, it’s the Tattle Bogle Shield Mixed Doubles being held in the Legion and there will be a little raffle.

Registration books for season 2015/2016 are now available from the secretary and this year’s entry fees must be handed in along with the books — no entry fee, no entry.

There will be a committee meeting on Wednesday, May 6 in the Masonic at 8pm
