darts event raises over £800 for charity

Forty-two players entered the Davie Cooper Memorial Singles Cup, one down on last year. The event raised over £800 for the RNLI and Fishermen's Mission.

Only three ladies entered two going out in the first round but Liz Irvine had a good day getting to the quarter-finals before being beaten by Robbie Stanger. But in turn, he got to the semi-finals where Kevin Gray put him out with a 88.4 average.

The other semi-final was a repeat of last year’s final between Stevie Linklater and Ivan Leslie, which Stevie won, but not this time as Ivan made the final. However, with Kevin on top form Ivan lost three-nil.

The next big game is the Jim Scollie Masters next Friday in the Legion. It’s a ranking points event and with the points very close a big entry is expected.

Only games difference separate all three teams, while the Legion are only three points behind after inflicting a 12-nil whitewash on Sands ‘2’, who also lost out 7-5 to RBLM. They also played twice but went down 10-2 to Untouchables.

In the Williamsons B League there’s no stopping the St Ola boys as they beat one of their main challengers, Legion Arrows 7-5, and are the only team in either league with full points.
