Festive Singles on Friday

In the Williamsons ‘A’ League, there’s no stopping the Legion, as they posted two big wins — 10-2 over Untouchables ‘A’, then another 10-2 against the team in second spot, the Commodores.
So it’s back to a three-point lead over the Golf Club, who beat Quoyburray ‘B’ 9-3, and no joy for the other Quoyburray team, as they went down 7-5 to the Murray Arms.
Also, there was another defeat for Shapinsay, in fact, two, as they went down to the Wanderers 11-1 and to Sanday 10-2.
Sanday also had a second game, in which they came unstuck 7-5 to the Untouchables.
The Untouchables ‘A’ faired better in their second game, beating RBLM 9-3.

In the Williamsons ‘B’ League, there was mixed fortunes for the Motorhoose, as they went down 8-4 to the Nomads, but beat the Likely Lads 8-4, who had better luck in their second game by beating Deerness 8-4.
St Ola kept on the winning trail by beating Tankerness 8-4, and it was the same score as Meadowbank overcame the Sands.
Sands ‘2’ did better, as they beat the Bilco Boys 10-2, and another good win for the Legion Arrows, as they overcame the Shore 8-4.

There were 180s from Raymie Rendall, Derek Ward Jnr, Hamish Baillie, Billy Ward, Leigh Shearer in an 11-dart leg, James Flett, Fraser Laird, Colin Kirkpatrick, Alan Gray, Eric Walls, Ben Hogan, Ian Wilkie, Jamie Robertson, Michael Montgomery, Bill Robertson, and two from Robbie Stanger, Roy Foubister, and Michael Bain, three from Ivan Leslie and four from Kevin Gray.

High checkouts: 100 from Gary Wilson, Eddie Craigie and Danny Wards; 101 Brett Dickenson, Sinclair Craigie, who also had a 107; 102 Aaron Mitchell; 114 Graham Louttit; 116 and 127 Derek Firth; 116 Ivan Leslie; 120 Trevor Shearer; 122 Alan Gray; and 138 John Thomson.

It’s the big one on Friday, night, with the last event of the first half of the Kirkwall & District Darts League.

It’s the Festive Open Singles, and the fourth ranking event, in the Masonic Club, at 7.30 p.m.
There are quite a lot of postponed games still to be played.
Team captains are advised that these must be played before the festive break, or they will be declared null and void.
