In the final week of league action in the KDDL the Untouchables were officially crowned as the undefeated champions of the A League, after they overcame Exiles 7-5 last Monday night. This was just 24 hours after the Untouchables beat the Legion 9-3 in their rearranged game, when they reached enough points to win the league.

 

Relegated into the B League are Ale Stars who finished in bottom place, who go down with Tankerness who finished just above them.

 

In the B League, winners The Sands, also carried out the tremendous accomplishment of going unbeaten all season. They beat Rough N' Rowdy 10-2 to gain promotion to the A League, with Rough N' Rowdy also promoted after finishing in second place.

 

At the opposite end of the table, Quoyburray B finished bottom, booking their place in the C League along with the Muppets.

 

In the highly competitive C League, Exporters, in their very first season, secured their title as champions, despite a 7-5 defeat to the Vikings, however, the on form league newbies had done enough to finish top of the table, just one point ahead of nearest challengers Shandy Bass, who are also promoted. 

 

Looking at a few stats for the season, well done to Robbie Stanger who equalled Kevin Gray's record of hitting 66 180's in a season, Kevin was in second place this year with 58. In total there were 769 180's hit, a new record. 

Robbie also topped the number of 100 plus finishes with a total of 23 and also topped the ranking points table with 62. More stats are listed on the Orkney Darts Facebook page.

East meets West in the Orkney championships in the Legion this Friday at 7.30pm with the men's team, singles, doubles, and mixed doubles winners from the KDDL and WMDA facing each other.

Then on Saturday the KDDL B team travel to Shetland for their match, with the main A fixture taking place in Kirkwall the following week.
