Craigie Cup win for Robbie Stanger

Highest finish was Brett Dickinson, ER&T Craigie Cup runner up Ian Linklater, sponsor Thorfinn Craigie, winner Robbie Stanger.

The wet and windy weather didn't prevent 47 hardy souls venturing out to the Tankerness Hall last friday evening to take part in the E.R & T. Craigie singles, the fifth of seven ranking points competitions this season.

Kenny Gunn was showing signs that a recent shoulder injury was on the mend, as he progressed to the semi-finals, where he found Ian Linklater in an unforgiving mood, with Ian winning 4-0. Ian's Untouchables team-mate Robbie Stanger would meet him in the final after another whitewash over Wayne Monkman in the other semi.

With both players having been on fire earlier in the week during their league match, it was little surprise to see them locking horns in the final. Robbie started clinically, hitting two 180s in the first three legs as he roared to a 4-0 lead with Ian struggling to find his range. That changed in the fifth leg as Ian finally got a mark on the board, followed immediately by a 15 dart leg finished with a 122 on the bull. Could a comeback be on the cards? Robbie decided that no was the answer to that, finding his scoring form once more to keep far enough ahead to finish the match before Ian could notch another leg. Yet more silverware for Robbie this season who has been on an untouchable run of form of late.
