Last week was one of very few in the KDDL calendar with no Friday night darts, so it was league action all the way. Only two matches took place in the 'A' league, with last season's 'B' champions the Wanderers setting the early pace at the top.
The 'B' league was predicted to be as unpredictable as any league ever has been, with very little separating any of the eight participants on paper, which seems to be supported already with fifty percent of results ending by the narrowest 7-5 margin. It would not be a surprise if, with three or four matches remaining of the season, there may be teams who could still potentially end up in either the two promotion or two relegation slots.
All the new teams in the 'C' league have now gained points with the Bull Hitters drawing with the Exporters and the Outcasts repeating that result against last season's newbies, the East Mainland Young Farmers Club. The Nomads have the most experience amongst all those in the league and sit top already, but the real battle will be in the chase to claim the other promotion spot.
Singles cup action returns in the Legion tomorrow (Friday) evening with the Tom Notman Memorial Cup which is open to any player who has ever been registered with the KDDL. Played in Tom's beloved best of 3, 301 double start format the whole way through the competition, it really is open to anyone who hits a purple patch on the night to emerge as champion, regardless of age or experience.
League action returns the following Monday, succeeded by the second ranking points competition of the year, the Pit Stop Cup in the Golf Club on Friday 24th.
