Ryan and Jamie win B Doubles

Winners Ryan Tulloch & Jamie Drever, right, played against Erlend Lennie & David Shearer in the B League doubles final.

Week 13 of the KDDL season passed and it turned out to be unlucky 13 for the league leaders as the Untouchables fell foul of Sanday, a result that keeps things tight between the top four in the league as the Orkney Golf Club were victorious over the Legion. A mere 6 points separate the Untouchables in first from the Legion in fourth, but they still have a game in hand. The run-in for the title is going to be very interesting this season.

The top four teams in the 'B' league all won, although Murray Arms in first and Tankerness in second both only just scraped past the winning line in their matches. In the remaining fixture, Shandy Bass overcame bottom side Skippers and have moved safe of the wooden spoon position now, safely in mid table at the moment.

On Friday night, the Masonic played host to the 'B' league doubles, with 'B' ranking points at stake for those wanting to try their luck against the Shetland 'B' side in May.

A healthy turnout of 17 pairs showed that there is much interest in the 'B' ranking system, and it was by all accounts a very good night of darts. In the top half of the draw Ryan Tulloch was looking to get his name on the trophy for a second time, accompanied by Jamie Drever this time around. They found themselves up against the Young Loons pairing of Nicol Gray and Connor Crawford in the first semi-final and it was the Sands pairing who came out on top.

In the other half of the draw it was father and son duo Iain and Ryan Wilkie who were making steady progress, until they were plundered by Vikings duo Erlend Lennie and David Shearer in the second semi-final.

The final was a very one-sided affair on paper, although missed doubles opportunities meant the score could have been much closer. Eventually it was Ryan and Jamie who came away with their hands on the trophy, winning 5-0.

The main Ranking events continue this Friday in the Legion, with the Taylor Singles. Only 6 points separate 8th from 19th in the main ranking table, and things are equally tight in the 'B' ranking table so it really is all to play for yet for anyone trying to break into either side. A good turnout is expected.

180s were scored by: Craig Taylor, Stuart Thomson, Robbie Norquoy, Liam Drever, Jamie Drever, Jamie Anderson, Kevin Gray (two) and Brett Dickinson (three).

High Checkouts: Kevin Gray 100, Liam Drever 100, Jamie Anderson 100, Bruce Moar 101, Erlend Lennie 102, Iain Wilkie 103, Jamie Drever 104, Martin Peace 119 and Paul Foubister (106, 130).
