League action resumes

Action resumed last week after the short festive break in the Williamsons Butchers sponsored KDDL leagues. With the Exiles v Legion game falling foul of COVID there were only two matched played. League leaders Untouchables stretched furter ahead with an 8-4 win over Orkney Golf Club in what looked like a very good match on the scorecard. In the Legion the Bilco Boys put up a great fight and were unlucky on the doubles not to come away with something from their 9-3 loss to Sanday.

The Kirkwall Royal British Legion Men's Doubles were played on Friday night and it was good to see Brian Stevenson Jr (Tone) rolling back the years and playing some great darts as he and Keith Brumpton made it through to the final. Unfortunately they were up against a strong pairing of Ian Linklater and Robbie Stanger, who showed no mercy in wrapping up the title 3-0.

This Friday sees the next installment of this year's Ranking Points competitions with the Craigie Cup taking place in the Tankerness Hall. Competition is fierce in both the main and 'B' ranking tables so it really is all to play for yet.

180s were scored by: Andrew Moar, Brett Dickinson and Stevie Linklater (two). Scores of 174 were also recorded for Trevor Shearer and Bruce Moar.

High Checkouts: Kevin Peace 103, Billy Ward 106, Stevie Moar 112 and Ian Linklater 138.
