Fisheries Funding (EMFF)

What is EMFF?

The European Maritime and Fisheries Fund (EMFF) is one of the European Structural and Investment Funds administered by the European Commission for the period 2014-2020.  The overall objective of which is to promote “smart, sustainable and inclusive growth” as set out in the Europe 2020 Strategy.

Funded from the European Union and Scottish Government will be provided to area based Fisheries Local Action Groups to implement the Fisheries actions within their Local Development Strategies.  Click here to find out more about the Orkney Local Development Strategy.

 

What is the Fisheries Local Action Group?

The Fisheries Local Action Group (FLAG) is a partnership of representatives of the local fisheries sector as well as relevant public bodies and community groups. The FLAG is responsible for the strategic direction and implementation of the local EMFF programme.

 

What will funding be available for?

The local EMFF programme will offer funding to support the development of Orkney’s Fisheries sector and communities.

Following community consultation in preparation of the Orkney Local Development Strategy, the FLAG’s priorities for funding will be:

To facilitate the diversification and sustainable management of the local fisheries sector
To develop new market opportunities and added value for fish products
To support initiatives for diversification in fisheries based communities

 

When can I apply?

Procedures and applicant guidance are currently being developed, therefore, we are not yet open to applications.  Further information will be provided on this page in due course.
