Holm Sailing Club is based in the village of St. Mary's. Points racing is held during the summer in Snipe dinghies.

Local News

Not much sailing activity at the moment in Orkney. Things are likely to be quiet till May 2017. Orkney will be hosting the Snipe National Championships in 2017, an event to look forward to. The racing will run from Saturday 12 August to Monday 14 August.

Club News

The club boats are currently packed away for the winter.

The Holm Sailing Club AGM will be held on Tuesday 7 March 2017 at 7pm in the Holm Hall. Please come along to support the future of the club.


Rosebud was launched on Saturday morning (18th June) at 10am at the Holm Pier. Barbara Balcombe and Lesley Spence also did a sponsored swim from the 2nd barrier pier to the Holm Pier to raise money for Motor Neurone Disease, with Rosebud supporting.

Tuesday evening racing continues through the summer with a 7pm start at St. Mary's pier.

Other News

Frenchman Armel Le Cléac'h wins the Vendee Globe single handed non stop race round the globe. Alex Thomson of the UK finished close behind in 2nd place.

Australia's Tom Burton wins the Laser class, knocking Tonci Stipanovic of Croatia off the top spot in the medal race. Stipanovic wins Croatia's first ever olympic sailing medal. New Zealand's Sam Meech finished with a bronze medal. 

Giles Scott of the UK stamped his mark on the Finn class winning the event before the concluding medal race.
