SteptOZe Yard Garden Pass-it-on Day 2012

In May we had our annual "Garden Pass-it-on Day" where folk had the chance to come along and pick up bargains of new plants, seeds, gardening tools and equipment. There was also the opportunity to ask advice of our resident experts and learn fun ways of recycling to cut the cost of gardening. Not to forget the tea and homebakes of course!  Here are a selection of photos from the day. Oooh how wonderfully sunny and warm it was!

Lots of things to buy at bargain prices - compost bins, hanging baskets, old tyres (for compost or wormery)

Did we mention wormery?  Here's one of our happy residents of our wormery - one of our most industrious volunteers!

One of our volunteers, Sean, selling some plants, while in the background visitors sample the homebakes!

Fay in traditional Orkney summer-wear, sun hat and wellies!

Our new compost garden - experiments with different materials in each bin to see what works best

Recycling pallets so that vegetables can be grown in even the smallest garden

Recycling ideas for strawberry pots!

Or an old fishbox

A great day was had!
