Zero Waste Scotland volunteer and community advocate programe (VCAP)
Orkney Zerowaste promote the waste reduction themes which are sponsored through the Zero Waste Scotland volunteer programme. This programme is an extension of the Master Composter programme which began in September 2008 and continues with this new programme which started in 2013 and continues with the new period 2015-17.
The aim of the Zero Waste volunteer programme is support Orkney residents to recycle as much as they can and to reduce food waste at source through the national Love Food Hate Waste campaign.
This is being achieved by training volunteers and community advocates to go out into their local communities and promote these campaigns by attending events such as as eco schools events or meetings, running workshops, giving talks or helping people on an individual basis.
