An Update of the U3A Music Group
Which last met on the 3rd of July-in Orphir-
Our theme this time was "Men",as the previous time we had selected "Women"-
With a break for coffee and Eccles cakes,we listened to a varied mix-
A few of the members had chosen Countertenors-as a result we had quite a few different voices in that range to listen to-
They included-Alfred Dellor,Max Emanuel Cencic,David Daniels and Tim Read-
Also heard were Peter Pears,Woodie Guthrie,Aled Jones,The Young Uns,Boccelli,Avital,Dick Gaughin (sp?),Andy Williams,and a historic piano played by Alec Cobbe from his large collection of antique pianos at Hatchlands Park in Surrey - This piano was once owned By Elgar-
The August meeting of the group will be in Orphir and we have chosen as our theme"Harps"-we have a couple of emebers who are students of the harp-we hope for a live performance one day!
We invite anyone who is interested in this subject to join us-try us out-we always learn something new-
We extend a welcome-it may be possible to give a lift from Kirkwall-
