Music Appreciation Group

The music group met on the 4th Jan. to expore the theme"America"-a most interesting collection resulted-including new music and composers( to some of us)and items some had not heard previously.
Amongst the selection were-
Ferde Grofe-a Painted Landscape-
The Ink spots -two songs-
Aaron Copeland"s setting of Long Long Ago-
Samuel Barbours-Adagio for Strings-
Shenandoah-which has an interesting history-
Leroy Anderson"s Piano Concerto-Sinatra"s Nancy with the Laughing Face-
John Denver,Paul Robeson.
Gershwins Piano Concerto-
Korngold,John Williams,Oscar Perterson,Woodie Guthrie,and Charles Ives.
Listening to wonderful music-in a very social way-on a cold rainy windy morning-with home delicious home bakes ,seemed to be a very good idea!
The next session is on the 1st of Feb. at Susans-St,Catherines Place and she has selected-" River or Ocean" as her topic.
