07 October 2020Covid-19 Opening Update

The Committee of the Orkney Club have been making plans for reopening the bar. We had planned to open this week (w/c 5th October) and have worked hard to get the bar ready. We even had a trial weekend checking that our measures were compliant with Covid restrictions, and that they worked for us and for our bar staff.

But, with the new restrictions from the Scottish government, we will open, tonight, and tomorrow night, from 7.30 - 10pm. Then we will have to close until at least 25th October, pending further information from the Scottish Government.

For now the bar is open to members only, or members with only one guest (no more than two households). The tables will be spaced apart, and there will be table service only. The Club has limited capacity and if it is full we will need to turn away members if there is no vacant table for them.

If all the tables are full then any newly arrived visitors cannot stay.

All visitors to the club must comply with Test and Protect ruling to provide their contact details to bar staff on arrival. Failure to do this will mean that the visitor must leave.

Visitors to the club must wear a mask on arrival and if moving around the club. Masks can be taken off when sitting at the table.

There will be no sitting or standing at the bar.

The Club will only be open when the bar is open and staffed. Therefore, for the time being, there will be no group meetings or use of club facilities for other meetings.

Visitors should use the disinfectant hand spray on arrival.

Members or their guests must not visit the club if they have been in contact with anyone who has tested positive of coronavirus, or if they have symptoms of coronavirus.

All visitors will be reminded to clean the surface areas of the toilet and handles after use. Bar staff will clean frequently used surfaces, and newly vacated tables and chairs.

There will be four tables available to use in the main bar area. The table areas will be taped to remind members of social distancing. There will be three tables for use in the Daniell Room.
