Are you an archives buff? Want to help Posted on 28 December 2009 The Big Orkney Song Project would love to hear from anyone interested in getting involved in searching the Orkney Archives. We are looking for anyone interested in spending as much or as little time as they want, searching newspapers and the Orkney Room for references to Orkney's songs. No prior knowledge is needed, but you must be able to work on your own during the archive's opening hours. Full training in what to look for will be provided - but it's very easy to become sidetracked! Posted on 28 December 2009 Spring cleaning? Posted on 28 December 2009 Are you planning a spring clean shortly? Then please keep the Big Orkney Song Project in mind! If you come across anything we'd love to hear from you, no matter how little you find. If we get small fragments of songs from a few people then we can stitch it back to together and reinvigorate it. Our project runs until October 2010, so the sooner we get donations, the more time we have to correctly catalogue, notate and return to the public archive.
Posted on 28 December 2009 Big Orkney Song Project - Year Two Posted on 08 November 2009 The BOSP is pleased to announce that it has successfully run 17 SongShare events across the Orkney Mainland, linked South Isles, North and South Isles. If you attended an event we thank you. If you couldn't manage along, but are interested in the project, then keep your eyes (and ears!) peeled, as we're only half way through! There is more still to come. Posted on 08 November 2009 |
