Lieutenant Robert W. Taylor, M.C. of Flotta

Today is the centenary of the death at Passchendaele of young Robert Taylor of Flotta.  He had volunteered in summer 1915, joining the Royal Field Artillery.  Robert was soon commissioned and in over two years of hard fighting was wounded twice.  Robert did not survive his third wound and died on 24th October 1917 in Dozinghem Casualty Clearing Station.  The Military Cross he won two months before his death is in Tankerness House Museum in Kirkwall.  Robert Taylor's biography can be downloaded as a pdf from the Flotta section of the website, or directly using the link below.
