Charity darts raises over £1000

The annual May weekend charity darts took place in the Masonic Club in Kirkwall last Friday, where in total £1067.40 was raised for local carers charity Crossroads Orkney.

Winners were Mintlaw visitors on their annual visit Ronnie Ewing and Mike Forbes who beat Alan Gray and Michael Muir 4-2. Ladies winners were Jacqui Stevenson and Kirstie Velzian who beat Hazel Groundwater and Lorraine Bradley 3-0.

All the cash prizes the players won, including the £100 first prize, was very generously donated back to the charity. Special thanks to Carole Celli and Charlie for their fantastic fundraising they did on the night and at events prior to the darts, which was included in the total raised.

Charlie also presented Jim Scollie with an engraved plaque marking his 50 years involvement in the local darts scene from all at the Kirkwall Masonic Club.

FIXTURES

This Friday, May 6, sees the Tattie Bogle charity doubles in the Legion at 7.30pm.
The annual Darts Do and presentation of trophies is set for May 21, in the Masonic.
Earlier in the day, May 21, Jacqui Stevenson has organised the annual darts competition in memory of her mother Liz. It's mixed doubles, takes place in the Ola, with names by 1pm.
