East v West Friday

It was back to league business after the cups break and, in the Williamson’s ‘A’ League, it was ‘as you were’, with the Legion chalking up their 64th straight win, after beating Untouchables ‘A’ 10-2.
That win puts the Legion out of reach of all the other teams, so the fight is on for second spot, with the Golf Club contenders, after beating already doomed Meadowbank 10-2.
Hot on their heels are the Commodores, 8-4 winners over Sanday, but have played a game more than the Golf boys — and there's only a couple of games to go!
There was a very good win for RBLM — 8-4 over Quoyburray ‘B’.
The Wanderers remain in fourth place, after a narrow 7-5 win over the Untouchables, which looks like leaving last year's runners-up to their lowest ever league position, although they do have a postponed game in hand.
The top game in the Williamson’s ‘B’ League was the Shapinsay v Sands, but no score card was handed in, so the Murray Arms closed the gap by beating Tankerness 10-2, and they meet Shapinsay this week — so the league could be won this week!
The Likely Lads had a great 9-3 win over the Shore ‘2’ and the Nomads have moved up after beating the Shore 10-2.
They move above the Legion Arrows, who went down 7-5 to Deerness, and the Bilco Boys moved clear of the wooden spoon area by beating the Sands ‘2’ 7-5.
There were 180s from Allan Brown, Edrian Skea, Jamie Drever, Keith Bain, Derek Ward Jnr, Ray Butcher, Ivan Leslie, Kevin Gray, Brian Moar, who also had a 177, Craig Taylor, Robert Gatt, Ian Wilkie, Graham Louttit, Keith Brumpton, Michael Moodie, Alan Gray, Robbie Stanger, and two from Leigh Shearer, Brett Dickenson, and George Low, with Bruce Moar hitting three.
High checkouts: 100 Alan Gray and Ivan Leslie; 119 Leonard Craigie; and 151 Robbie Stanger.
The 180s have now reached a total of 447 so far this season. Kevin Gray has 47 of them , followed by Stevie Linklater on 30. And Robbie Stanger, on 23, makes up the top three.
Martin Peace, on 164, still has the highest ‘A’ finish, with Craig Moar’s 150 topping the ‘B’ table.
Kevin Gray has 17 over-100 finishes in the ‘A’ League, and in the ‘B’ League, it’s Allan Brown and Craig Moar, both on five.
It is the big games on Friday, night with the annual East v West, which this year is being held in the Stromness Golf Club.
A bus will leave the Kirkwall Legion Club at 7pm, returning after the games.
The next domestic cup is the Steven Flett Shield, on Friday April 12. It is a mixed doubles event, and is being held in the Legion
