Kevin is Pit Stop champion

The latest ranking points event, the Pit Stop Cup, only attracted 38 entries and that included six non-registered players, so it was a very poor response for this lovely cup presented by Gary from the Pit Stop Garage.

All the big names were there, except a couple which included the leading ranking player Ivan Leslie who was unwell.
Only one of the non-registered players made it into the last 16 and that was the West Mainland and former Kirkwall and Orkney Singles champion, Davy Cooper. But he was to exit there, so it was all Kirkwall players into the quarter-finals, seven A players and one B player, who was Trevor Shearer the B Singles champion. He did not make it any further and into the semi-finals it was one Legion player, one from the Untouchables, one from Wanderers and one from Wanderers B, and it was Brian Moar from the Wanderers and Kevin Gray of the Legion who contested the final, but with the standard of darts being played it could have been any of the four.

The final continued the very high standard and included a 13-darter from Kevin as he won 4-2. That result took Kevin to the top of the ranking table on 36 points, followed by Ivan Leslie on 33, Brian Moar 31, Robbie Stanger 20, Bruce Moar and Stevie Linklater 19, Billy Ward 17, Ian Linklater 15, Wayne Monkman and Mike Bain 13, Mark Louttit and Trevor Shearer 11, with lots of other players on nine to three points.

The next ranking points event is the League Doubles on Friday, February 18. It is the second last ranking event, with only the Singles to follow, so get turning up for these very important events. Remember, Shetland are here in April.

Both A and B Leagues got under way, with no real surprise results in the A League, but Sanday got a shock in the B League. The Legion and Untouchables both got off to winning starts. The league leaders came back from Quoyburray with a 10-2 win and the Untouchables, with only three players, still managed to beat Meadowbank 7-5. Wanderers kept their third spot with a 9-3 defeat of Quoyburray B and close behind are Untouchables
A after beating RBL2 10-2. The other game was postponed. Sanday, the leaders of the B League, got a shock as the Sands held them to a 6-all draw, which allowed the Fanooks to move within one point as they beat Dearness 8-4. The Bilco Boys had a good 8-4 win out in Quoyburray over Tankerness and good points for Shore 2 with a 7-5 defeat of the Likely
Lads. No score from the Shore v Murray Arms game.

There were 180s from David Kirkpatrick, Neil Drever, Paul Foubister,Graham Rendall, Mark Louttit, Glen Miller, Ian Wilkie and two from Brian Moar, Kevin Gray, Michael Moodie, Stevie Linklater and Ian Linklater.

There were high finishes of 100 from Mike Barnett and Ian Wilkie, who also had a 157, 101 from Kevin Gray, 102 from Craig Moar, 103 from Steven Tulloch, 107 from Michael Muir jnr, 110 and 111 from Trevor Shearer, 116 from Paddy Kirkpatrick, 118 from Brian Moar and Derek Firth and 152 from Stevie Linklater.
