Leigh Shearer won the Kirkwall Legion Singles beating Gary Wilson in the final.
The second half of the KDDL league season, kindly sponsored by Williamson's Butchers, kicked off last week and it was a great week for 'A' league leaders the Legion.
Not only did they have a heavy win over Nomads, but second-placed Commodores suffered a rout at the hands of a resurgent Orkney Golf Club whilst third-placed Sanday were held to a draw by Untouchables.
The Exiles barely scraped a win against Shapinsay whilst bottom placed Wanderers were turned over by The Ola.
Down in the 'B' league, Tigers stretched their lead at the top with a resounding win over Muppets, whilst closest challengers Young Loons had their match with Shandy Bass postponed.
The Legion Arrows lost their chance to go second as they could only muster a draw with Tankerness. RBL2 put the Sands to the sword in their game, whilst Quoyburray 'B' narrowly got the better of Quoyburray in their game.
Although not a KDDL competition, the Legion doubles is played this Friday (17th) in the Legion. The singles were heald last Friday when leigh Shearer beat Gary Wilson in the final.
Next week the ranking competitions resume, with the Craigie Cup played out in the Tankerness Hall.
