Darts season annual presentations

The end of season men and ladies leagues trophy presentations took place in the Kirkwall Masonic Club on Saturday night, when the Tattie Bogle Open Charity doubles was also held. Winners on the night were Kevin Gray and son Tommy, playing in his first competition. Tommy and his brother Jamie, who also took part, played very well on the night, so well done to them both.
Kevin and Tommy beat Kevin Sarling and Maggie Learmonth in the final. League secretary Brian Moar is pictured presenting the trophies.
Also pictured are the prizewinners and committee from both men’s and ladies leagues. The Legion are pictured with the league cup, having won the title 10 years in a row. An amazing achievement.
Noreen Bain presented ladies president Hazel Groundwater with flowers as a mark of appreciation for her work during the season after Hazel gave a rundown on the activities of the ladies league throughout the season.
KDDL president Craig Taylor also gave his thanks to all who made the men's league such a success over the winter months, including thanking sponsors Williamsons Butchers, The Brig Larder, J.W.Gray and Tennent's, all all venues for supporting the league.
In total, from entries fees and a raffle on the night, added to other money raised by Charlie Tulloch at the Masonic, through a football card etc, and money raised at the Steven Flett Memorial Darts, £820 will be donated to the Cardiac Risk in the Young Freya Rose memorial fund, for heart screening the young here in Orkney.
£500 will also be presented each to the RNLI and the Fishermen's Mission which was raised at the Davie Cooper Memorial Darts earlier in the season.
Registration books are now available for next season from Brian Moar. A date for the AGM will be agreed soon and posted on the Orkney Darts Facebook and main website www.orkneydarts.co.uk
