The School Leaver Destination Return is carried out by Skills Development Scotland in each local authority area every year. The return follows school leavers to determine the routes these young people are moving on to, for example a positive route such as further education, training or employment. The 2009 results are available to download here.
Highlights within this Orkney report are that we have the lowest level of unemployed school leavers in the country and a higher than national average number of school leavers moving on to a positive route. These successes are the result of partner agencies including Skills Development Scotland, the Schools, Life Skill Centres, Orkney Islands Council, Voluntary Action Orkney, Orkney College and others working together.
