u3a Photography Group - St Margaret's Hope - 29 April 2026

Eleven of us met at the car park in St Margaret's Hope on one of the sunniest and warmest days of the year so far .The aim was to take photos around the Hope aided by a crib list from Tom . Unfortunately he was not able to join us due to a dental problem . Off we set looking for Dandelions up a tree ,two of which were spotted .No less than 6 Dinosaurs where found but nowhere near full size . The Door inside another door was easily spotted at the Loft Gallery but the missing Horse shoe proved elusive to some .The Garden Tools Gate was great fun at the Meringo Garden while a number of Bricks in Wall were seen but no Pink Floyd members ! Eight or more Chimneys wasn't difficult as The Hope Houses are full of Victorian Chimneys as well as lots of Crow Step Gables .The window boxes I found were a little underwhelming while there was a surfeit of Rust to find . Over and above all this there were lots of other aspects and scenes to take as well as some good views across the bay to the Pentalina . Tulips seemed to be the most noticeable flower out and they were spectacular in both the Meringo Garden and a private garden Hilary and I were invited to view in the village .Thank you Tom for all your suggestions as it gets us looking and observing far more than we would otherwise . Well what about the Light Bulbs I hear you say ? Yes well I had a Light bulb moment . Instead of heading homewards and stopping at a cafe, we went down to the Murray Arms for lunch .We sat out side in the sun and low and behold yet another Light Bulb moment ! They were hanging above us and the trick was to get as many as possible in picture . Thank you all for coming for what was a lovely morning outing .
The next meeting is a planned trip to Eday on Wednesday 27 May .The boat leaves at 7 am and gets to Eday at 9.30 .It returns at 17.15 and gets in a 19.55. I hope we can get enough people to fill a couple of cars or more .Please let me know if you want to come and if you can take your car so we can get them booked on .If the weather is awful, we can always cancel up to the day before I think .
The project this month is " Circles or Wheels ". The photos for today should be sent to me by May 25 th .The Project Photos should be sent to David by the same date . The usual 5 max from each .
Thanks once again for the excellent set of search items Tom .It was great fun looking for them but we missed you being there .
