ANGLING GROUP

by Dave Woodcock - 23:14 on 27 July 2012

Six members of the newly formed U3A angling group went out on their inaugural trip to number 2 barrier and the pier last Tuesday.
We could not have asked for better weather, a beautiful, sunny, calm day.
Once we had managed to figure out how all the various bits of tackle fitted together, four of us stayed on the pier and two went onto the barriers. The barriers proved to be the better choice as Tim Wright and barbara Todd had catches. Barbara even having one that was large enough to take home for tea.
The only person with any fishing experience on the pier was Bev Henderson who very patiently helped the rest of us with advice and finally got us going.
Unfortunately only one fish was caught by the four of us on the pier and that was a 2.5 inch micro fish that I caught. It was however mis-hooked and so I don't suppose it counts.

Maybe not the most productive of fishing trips but we all have to start somewhere and hopefully we will all improve. The company was good though and everybody enjoyed a pleasant couple of hours watching the world go by on a beautiful day.

Anybody else who thinks that they may like to have a go at fishing will be very welcome and we even have a few spare sets of gear so people can try before they buy. no need to worry about not having any experience. you can not be worse than me.
