Able Seaman Alfred Taylor of Finstown

Today is the centenary of the death from wounds in Chatham Naval Hospital of Alfred Taylor of Finstown.  He was fatally wounded in the daring attempt to block the use of Zeebrugge harbour by U-boats on St George's Day 1918.  Alfred had joined the Royal Navy in February 1914 and served on board the battleship HMS Benbow at the Battle of Jutland.  The story of his war service can be downloaded as a pdf from the Firth section of the website, or directly using the link below.
