Enjoy a walk around the Brodgar area with the Orkney Field Club.
The principal focus of the walk is the birdlife of the two Lochs Harray and Stenness, the one fresh water the other salt water, and the terrain between. We will of course try to be alert to any other signs of approaching spring.
It is open to all and beginner birdwatchers are particularly welcome. It will help to increase the enjoyment of the walk to carry binoculars and the leader will have a telescope for more distant sightings. Although mostly on footpaths the walk does involve walking along the narrow road bordering the Loch of Harray so great care will need to be taken by all participants. It shouldn't be a particularly muddy walk but stout footwear is advisable. We will be out for several hours so suitable seasonal clothing is advised. Also be aware there are no facilities for comfort breaks on the walk.
Meet at the Ring of Brodgar car park at 10am.
The walk leader is Michael Gee who can be contacted for additional information on [email protected]
Reserve date Sunday 13th February in case of a bad weather forecast.
