HMS Vanguard Remembrance
Services of remembrance for the 843 men lost when HMS Vanguard was destroyed on 9th July 1917 by internal explosions were held at the Vanguard Buoy and at Lyness yesterday. The Smith Family of Ipswich visited Orkney to pay respects to Paula's great uncle, Royal Marine Henry Metcalf, while Jonathan Saunders returned to pay respects to his great grandfather, Chief Yeoman of Signals Tommy Cox.
